Located in Central Michigan, Gratiot County has a population of 42,000+ residents. Gratiot County maintains a small but stable community. Almost 80% of land in Gratiot County is in farms. The rich, fertile soils of Gratiot County produce corn, wheat, sugar beets, dry beans and soybeans.
Leaders throughout the county made the two wind farms possible by creating Michigan’s first Countywide Model Wind Energy Ordinance. Gratiot County has over 180 active wind turbines throughout the county and is the largest wind power installation in the state of Michigan.
